Raymond J. Bartko

Raymond J. Bartko, 67, of Brookfield, CT, passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2026.

He will be remembered for his unmistakable laugh, quick sarcasm, and effortless wit. Ray had a daring spirit and a true zest for life. He was a father who was immensely proud of his children. He found joy in cooking new foods, traveling the world, and diving with his beloved wife, Liz.

Ray embraced adventure, and he didn't have to seek it out. Adventure always found him! He could take a simple moment and turn it into unparalleled entertainment. He was an avid golfer and a devoted New York Yankees fan.

Above all, Ray's presence brought energy and humor to those around him. For more than two years, Ray faced cancer with remarkable strength and resilience. He remained positive and focused on living fully up until his very last moment, a true reflection of the spirit that defined his life.

Born in Yonkers to Rosemary and Raymond Bartko, and raised in North Salem, NY, Ray's childhood was full of excitement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling beach to beach by RV, fishing and crabbing, discovering music, being a class clown, and keeping his parents on their toes at all times!

Ray built a career in engineering, where his sharp intellect and love for science and mathematics allowed him to thrive. He was passionate about his career and achieved great success in his field.

In 2009, Ray met his soulmate Liz, who would become his wife in 2016. He certainly met his match in Liz. Both of them up for anything that could make for a funny story later on. They made so many memories together, side by side, traveling the world, inventing new recipes, hosting family and friends, flipping houses, and becoming grandparents together. Their love is inspiring and infinite.

Samantha Waltz and her husband Greg Waltz, of North Salem, NY, with children Charlotte and William

Affectionately known as Pop Pop by his grandchildren, his unconditional love will stay with them always. His grandchildren knew they could always count on Pop Pop for a belly laugh, a shoulder to lean on, and to be their biggest fan.

This one of a kind man leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and stories that will be passed down for generations to come. He will be forever missed.

We will be toasting Ray’s life at 3:00 p.m. on May 3 at 121 in North Salem. In true Ray fashion, we’ll meet you at the bar.
